ARTIST BIO

Elena Kuki is an American fiber artist who lives and creates in Lake Placid, NY and Pittsburgh, PA

The artist describes needlework as a skill passed down to her through multiple generations.

Previously, she had taught applied arts for 17 years and her students have show-cased their work in local and international exhibitions. Elena has also created fantasy and folk costumes and scenery for television shows and regional festivals.

These works leverage her knowledge of - and gift for  - color palettes. and by exploring surfaces, volumes, and textures, the artist develops the creative potential inherent in the unison of these natural materials.

Elena works with fiber art, embodying a worldview relevant to all mankind:  our planet can and should be preserved by respecting local traditions and nature’s spirit. For her, art is a means of acquiring knowledge about the world, and to contemplate and pursue natural harmony.

Elena’s art is in private collections in Russia, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Greece, Australia, and the United States.  Exhibitions include in Miami, in Ireland, Austria, and Latvia.
